Table Rock State Park, SC
I’m slowly but surely ticking nearby hikes off my list here in South Carolina and toward the end of August we ventured to Table Rock State Park just outside of Greenville, South Carolina to get in another late summer adventure.
Table Rock State Park is made up of a beautiful 3,000 acres in/at the foot of South Carolina’s bit of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Of course we were there for the views (a.k.a. the hike) but in addition to the several hiking trails on the park, there are also cabins for renting, camping and an old fashioned swimming hole. If you’re going to hike during the summer, definitely recommend throwing your suit in the car so you can jump in the water and cool off after your adventuring. We did not do this, so take it from our unpreparedness!
We opted to hike Table Rock Trail (strenuous), which is 3.6 miles one way to the end of the trail to make sure we wouldn’t miss the gorgeous view. And let me tell you, we put in the work for this one! Table Rock trail is laced with stone staircases, which have quite the incline, as well as several log steps, rock outcroppings and boulders too.
It was pretty hot the day we hiked Table Rock and we were throwing back the water, so as always, be sure to pack enough fluids. With this being a longer hike, we also packed a snack to have as we took in the view form the top before making the trek back down.
Round trip, this adventure took us about four hours. We like to take our time and I of course am always stopping to take photos of the view and Mother Nature in all her glory. In addition to the stone staircases there are several waterfalls tucked throughout the trail, which make for great resting points and visual motivation to keep going.
The view from the top was totally worth all the sweat and tired muscles and this is one hike you don’t want to miss if you’re in the South Carolina area!
I promise all 3,124 feet of it are worth it!
