Just Go
Hello 2019! Hello friends! Hello blog that I’ve neglected a little more than I intended to throughout the last two months of 2018! Thank you all so much for your patience these last several weeks as I’ve been very quiet here while attending an Air Force schooling in Montgomery, Alabama. It took quite a bit of internal grace and understanding to accept that Life Lon Wellness just couldn’t remain a priority during the phase of my life I recently completed and I couldn’t be more excited to dive back in. I do hope you all had the most wonderful holiday season that included time with family, time for yourself and attention to the love you’ve been needing.
I can hardly believe we are nearly two weeks into 2019, where has the time gone?!?! Hopefully you’ve had the chance to set your intentions and start out on the right foot for this year. If not. . . that’s ok too! The beauty of it is that tomorrow’s a new day and you already have everything within you to take steps towards fulfilling those intentions. I am so excited see where this year takes each of us. The options and opportunities truly are endless.
I’ve set several intentions for myself this year that I’m sure I’ll share here over the course of the next now, 348 days, however, today, I want to share with you a simple mantra I plan to live by in 2019.
“Just Go!”
In 2019, I plan to “Just Go!” So simple, but so applicable in sooooo many situations.
Just go for it. Just go with it. Just go on the adventure. Just go and see how you feel. Just go with your gut. Just go out on a limb. Just go with the flow. Just go on the work trip. Just go and throw your hat in the ring. Just go with the decision. Just go and trust yourself. Just go on the journey. See. . . no matter the situation, it works!
Someone I admire recently shared with me how take a “Just go” approach to life and it resonated with me in such a way that I’ve been applying it nearly every single day to one situation or another. There are countless situations we encounter and decisions we’re faced with that make us feel uncomfortable. They cause us to worry, lose sleep or get ourselves in a tailspin and for what? If we let ourselves, we could be hesitating every day at quite literally every turn. When you just go, you don’t hesitate, you don’t stop, you don’t think. . . you just do.
But how are we supposed to just go when there are a bajillion and one things running through our head?!?! Am I prepared? Am I qualified? Do I have what it takes? Will I fail? Will people laugh at me or criticize me? Am I supposed to be doing this? Am I really ready for the outcome of my decision? Do I like the unintended consequences? The running list of questions goes on and on and on and on. . .
In the past I’ve always gotten so caught in making sure things are perfect, that I have a well thought out plan, that I am making (what I think is) the exact right decision at the exact right time. I’ve been caught up in being careful, being cautious and not in a way that keeps me safe, but in a way that often hinders my ability to experience the world and every last feeling, emotion and opportunity it has to offer me. I refuse to live like that in 2019!
When we give up some control and take a just go approach to life, we’re profoundly saying we trust ourselves. We trust our gut and our instincts. We trust that we’ve had the experiences we need and the schooling or training required to be successful. We trust the people around us and most important to me, we are saying we trust that if nothing else, the Universe has us. We’re demonstrating confidence in not only our decision-making ability, but also in our capability to get ourselves out of any and every possible situation that could be a result of sed decision. We reaffirm that we believe in ourselves and have the courage to make a decision or take action even when there’s discomfort that comes along with it.
This year I want to trust myself, my gut, my instincts and my abilities enough to not let those voices of doubt or those feelings of discomfort creep in on and consume every decision I make.
And let’s be clear here. . . simply because you start just going, that does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that the discomfort or unease or hesitance will disappear. You’re still going to feel the discomfort in these times, but sometimes the just go attitude is what you need to push yourself over the hurdle or past what you think might be your breaking point. When you’re feeling uncomfortable and ready to hesitate, just go serves as a means for managing those feelings of hesitancy and aids in pushing through to achieve your wildest dreams or overcome a longstanding life obstacle. Truly, if you knew it was the right decision all along and you didn’t feel discomfort you really wouldn’t need to tell yourself to just go now would you? And how fun would a life of always knowing be anyhow?
I’m a girl on a mission this year to transition my just wait attitude to one of just go. I hope you’ll join me because I know there are endless opportunities and adventures and successes for you to have just on the other side of that discomfort and hesitancy. What do you say we. . . just go?!?!?!
