Hi.

I'm Lon, welcome! I'm a military girl living in a mystical world as a self-care & holistic health junkie. Travel gives me life & you can bet there's a crystal in my pocket & food on my mind.

Karma's a. . .Nice Lady

Karma's a. . .Nice Lady

We've all heard it, that saying that paints karma out to be the complete opposite of a nice lady.  Well, while karma definitely has the potential to live up to her not so good reputation, she doesn't always have to be that way.

Every decision we make and action we take in our lives produces an energy, good or bad, that eventually returns to us in one form or another.  That other saying of "we reap what we sow," I've found is wildly accurate.  Of course if we're sowing bad seeds, it's unlikely we'll sow a bountiful crop, but what if we do our absolute best to put only good energy and positive vibes out into the universe?  Wouldn't that lead to good karma?

When we make choices that bring goodness and happiness into the lives of others, the universe keeps track of that and will bring goodness and happiness into our lives.  When we treat others as we would like to be treated, that comes back to us because with every cause, there is an effect.

Speaking of making choices . . . we are making choices at nearly every second of every day.  Realize it or not, consciously or subconsciously, we make countless choices throughout the day that impact our future.  Those choices can be as simple as. . . I was extra tired this morning so I decided to sleep in, which kept me from eating breakfast or working out and lead me to being painfully hungry all morning long and to rearrange my evening plans in order to fit in a workout.  Or they can be as complex as. . . I was extra tired this morning so I decided to sleep in, which caused me to run late for work and lead to me getting a speeding ticket and a large fine.

What we think are simple choices or decisions that we make subconsciously can have impacts bigger than we imagine because whether they impact our life immediately or years down the road, every decision you make (big or small) will eventually influence our lives.

Every decision, good or bad, that I've ever made has gotten me to this very point in my life.  Changing even just one of those choices would've lead me to a different place than where I presently am.  Because I'm happy with and incredibly grateful for the way things are now, I wouldn't want to go back and make changes to the decisions I've made over the last 27 years.  But with that being said, like all of you, I've had my fair share of challenges, problems and things that just didn't go my way.  The struggles we face and the hardships we endure are the effect caused by the choices we make at one point or another, hence why karma gets such a bad rap.

Some may argue that we learn and grow most from the challenges in our lives and I surely can't disagree with that, but inevitably, we won't always make the right decision even if we always have the best intentions.  We're all human and make mistakes and while that's a perfectly natural part of life, the universe still keeps track of those mistakes and ensures we learn our lesson.  I like to think of it as the world's way of having our back in the way that our parents have your back when you're growing up. . . they're looking out for us, not necessarily in a way we appreciate at the time, but nevertheless, they're looking out and eventually we'll understand.

So if it's inevitable that we won't always make the correct choice and we're bound to face challenges as a result of them (and get our growing in in the process), why not do our best to make the kind of decisions that keep us on the right side of karma?  When we're doing the best we can to be kind, loving, generous human beings who care for and keep in mind the best interest of others and the world around us, the energy that generates means those same sentiments will be returned to us.

But making the right choice when we're faced with an endless number of decisions each day can be really hard right?!?! Here are a few things I try to keep in mind when making decisions.

1. Bring attention to the choices you make in each moment and make note that YOU are in fact making a decision. Sometimes we forget that in every situation we have a choice and fall victim to the idea that things just happen to us. By raising your awareness of the decisions you're making and how frequently YOU actually have a choice, you are more easily able to make conscious decisions.

2. Listen to your gut.  If we pay close attention, our bodies send us signals that let us know whether we feel good or bad about a situation, a person or a decision we're about to make.  If your stomach is in knots or you can feel your heart racing, or you find yourself sweating more than normal those are indicators of how you genuinely feel about something.  Listen to those feelings and take them seriously when making choices.

3. Ask yourself what the consequences of this decision will be for yourself and how it might impact others.  Will only good things come from the decision? Will there be negative "side effects" for you or for anyone else if you move forward in that way?  Will the positive outcomes of making this decision outweigh the negatives? These are some of the questions I ask myself when making decisions to ensure I am putting as much goodness out into the world has I possibly can.

There's no doubt that karma can be hard on us, but she can also be a nice lady too! If we bring awareness to our decisions, do our best to make choices that put only goodness and positivity into the world and keep in mind the impact our actions have on others, we have a pretty good chance of avoiding bad karma.

Light, Love & the Highest Vibes,

Lon
